Let’s be honest who REALLY takes care of themselves mind, body, and soul one hundred percent of the time? That’s right, no one and that is because we are all human. It is hard to achieve that perfect balance in life all of the time. We fall short sometimes and that’s okay because it gives us a chance to try even harder the next time. Self-care means exactly what it says, to care for YOURself. I have a love-hate relationship with self-care especially at this point in my life as a mother and wife. I know that it is very important but I struggle with balancing it all. I want to do everything and be everything to everyone but obviously this is not a realistic goal. So I usually end up putting my self-care on the back burner. No matter how hard it is to put ourselves first, at times, there is no doubt that self-care is critical to our physical and mental health. It prevents burnout, reduces negative physical effects of stress, and gives us time to refocus our energy.
