Holiday Appetizer Round Up from Trader Joe’s
**This post is not sponsored
Well, just like that it’s the holidays again and for most of us that means we will either be attending or hosting a holiday soirée. You may even be doing both! If you do happen to be hosting a formal dinner or casual gathering with lite bites, then you’re in the right place. Trader Joe’s is a unique grocery store that is known for it’s innovative, hard-to-find, great-tasting foods which are extremely affordable for those of you who may not be familiar. Each season Trader Joe’s puts out their Fearless Flyer that showcases their seasonally themed products that are available. Now, if you’re a dedicated TJ’s shopper then you know that a holiday appetizer selection is what most of us wait for all year long. There’s always the good ole favorites like the Scallops Wrapped in Uncured Bacon with Brown Sugar Glaze and the Mini Quiche Duo. But TJ’s always has a new goodie up it’s sleeve, like this year’s Crème Brûlée Tarte! Well…that isn’t actually an appetizer but I thought it was worth the mention…perhaps for dessert. Check out the rest of the apps below.
Creamy Roasted Cauliflower and Onion Dip
Who doesn’t like a good dip, especially a healthy one! TJ’s describes this creamy roasted cauliflower and onion dip as rich and nutty with a hint of sweetness. The creamy base consists of cauliflower florets, Swiss cheese, and sour cream. As if that weren’t enough, sauteed onions, cream cheese, roasted garlic, carrots, and chives all come together to create an irresistible crowd pleaser. Add your favorite kind of chip and you’re good to go! Make sure you buy 2 or 3 if you’re hosting a larger party, at $3.29 each you can’t beat it!
Mini Brie en Croute
TJ’s introduced this box of deliciousness last year for the holidays. A yummy bite-sized puff pastry with a decadent dollop of creamy brie cheese inside. This app has quickly become my favorite. Wrap anything in puff pastry and I WILL EAT IT! Besides the taste, your guests will love the portability of these puffs. Pair them with something sweet like TJ’s Sugar Plum Jam or offer a savory item like prosciutto. You get 10 puffs for $4.99 so make sure you stock up!
Mini Quiche Duo
This killer duo consists of Truffle and Swiss quiche for the cheese fans, and Bacon and Sautéed Onion quiche for the bacon lovers. Described as eggy, buttery, rich, and supremely satisfying, these little minis will definitely satisfy your guests and you! Grab a box of 12 for $3.99 which is a steal for quiche.
Vegetable Pastry Puffs with Herbs de Provence
More puff pastry, why of course! This new arrival to TJ’s holiday apps is a nod to France. A nice little mixture of creamy vegetable sauce, tomatoes, garlic, onions, and red and yellow peppers sit on top of a perfect square of puff pastry. Herb de Provence which is a mixture of dried herbs that originate from the Provence region of France is trickled on top each puff! One bite and suddenly you’re in France for only $3.99. Oh by the way the box contains 25 puffs!
Scallops Wrapped in Uncured Bacon with Brown Sugar Glaze
I don’t know about you but when I hear there’s scallops wrapped in bacon on a menu I get a little excited inside. I will take a scallop any way you give it to me but wrapped in bacon WITH a brown sugar glaze is a party in my mouth! These sweet tidbits don’t disappoint. You get 10 in each box for $6.99.
Shrimp and Salmon Trio
Issa trio! This box is for the seafood fanatics. Inside you’ll find salmon pinwheels with a mixture of wild-caught salmon, lime juice, garlic, and dill in a fancy pastry pinwheel. Next, a classic app, shrimp toast with chopped shrimp, lemongrass, a touch of oyster sauce, and sesame seeds. Lastly, shrimp parcels or tiny egg rolls that contain shrimp, vermicelli noodles, and shitake mushrooms round out this trio. These are surprisingly all made by hand, but that isn’t the best part. The best part about this appetizer trio is that it comes with a chili dipping sauce that tastes delicious with all three choices! You get four of each for a total of 12 in each box at the low price of $3.99. Make sure you grab a few boxes, these will disappear fast!
Crème Brûlée Tarte
Last on this list is the Créme Brûée Tarte which is actually a dessert but I had to include it because what party doesn’t need a yummy dessert to wrap up. Créme Brûlée is a rich, usually vanilla flavored custard that is made with cream, sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla flavoring. Typically they are served in individual ramekins but of course TJ’s has to make theirs a little different. This one is actually one whole tarte and it features a buttery crust! It does come with a packet of sugar to create the caramelized top layer that créme brûlée is known for having. Just sprinkle it on before you pop it into the oven. Each box is $5.99.
