This month I was inspired by one of this season’s makeup trends…Highlighting! Sephora has so kindly taken the time to break this trend down into three glow options: shimmer, dewy, and holographic. Shimmers use pearlized pigments that transform your skin with a radiant glow. While dewy highlighters are reflective glosses that bring a fresh youthful look to your skin. Lastly, the holographic look offers something a little different – a prismatic glow that is out of this world! I thought it would be pretty to pair the highlighter trend with another cool trend this season – nude makeup. Below is my take on the shimmer highlight glow and my thoughts on each of the products I used to create this look. Enjoy!

Radiant Luminizing Drops in Starlight $14

I don’t know about you guys but I LOVEEE to shine bright like a diamond. This highlighter helps me get the job done! It’s described as a lightweight, liquid luminizer that can be mixed into your foundation or worn by itself. Yes, it is that bomb! The formula is a beautiful sheer pigment that bestows an amazing shimmer effect. You can apply a little or build it until you achieve the effect you want. There is a dropper that can be used to pick up the luminizer but unfortunately it is not the best, so I just shake it into my hand. It is available in three shades: ultralight (bronze), starlight (luminous pink), and morning light (champagne).

Perfection Mist Nude Glow $20

This highlighter is a bit more subtle. It is described as an illuminating spray with a translucent base and subtle rose gold-colored micro pearls. Instead of an obvious shimmer effect this mist provides an understated glow. It is the perfect go-to product if you are going for a sunkissed look. And being able to spray the mist onto your skin makes it really simple to apply. Just a word of caution: apply outdoors or in a well ventilated area. I had a coughing fit when I first used it, so I definitely will not use indoors anymore lol. Nevertheless, this is going to be my pick this summer every time I need a quick glow if I’m running out. Best of all, it compliments all skin types (sensitive, normal, dry, combination or oily) so try it out.

Colorful Eyeshadow $5

When I came up with this look, I wanted a brownish nude shadow that I could blend to smithereens, but I did not want to spend a lot of cash. Lucky for me (and you too) the Sephora Collection always has my back with pretty decent beauty products for fairly reasonable prices. I’ve used this shadow before so I hopped on over to the Sephora site and ordered this eyeshadow in Coffee Break. The color is extremely pigmented so for this look I did not need very much. It was super easy to apply and blend out. Best of all it has a wear time of up to 10 hours and comes in countless colors that are often on sale like this one was!

Color Lip Last Lipstick $14

This lippie feels so good on my lips that I had to share it with you guys! Formulated with rosehip oil and vitamin B, this is a water resistant lippie that can last up to 10 hours. It goes on super creamy but dries to a semi-matte finish. You also do not need to worry about the pigment as it is highly pigmented. In fact, I had to blot, reapply and then blot again until I obtained my desired look. Luckily I had a little time to adjust the color before it started to dry. The shade pictured is cinnamon crush but if this is not your shade don’t worry the Sephora Collection has got you covered with 25 other fabulous shades!

Classic Double Ended – Shape and Highlight #204 $28

I purchased this brush because I needed a highlight brush and I figured 2 in 1 is better than just 1 lol! The dome shaped brush is used to highlight while the slanted brush is used to contour. The bristles are surprisingly soft which is perfect for applying highlighter but I know some ladies prefer stiffer bristles to contour with. Personally, I will probably use the contouring end to apply blush. For my look, I patted some of Sephora Collection’s Radiant Luminizing Drops on the areas I wanted to illuminate with my fingertips. These areas included my cheek bones, brow bones, the bridge of my nose, and my collar bones. Next, I used the domed end of this brush to buff it out. It was very easy to do and I am no makeup artist…I just like to play in it!
